What students learn
Students learn a wide range of subjects in the NSW curriculum. They build skills, think creatively and prepare for life beyond school.
NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
At Walters Road Public, SRE is delivered to all grades on Thursday Afternoons after 2pm.
During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from our school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities.
You can update your preference by writing to the school, or using this online form.
During the time that SRE classes are being held, students not attending will undertake supervised alternative meaningful activities.
The following SRE classes are offered at Walters Road Public:
Combined Christian SRE
These classes involve open discussion and interactive learning based on the authorised curriculum. The goal of these classes is to provide students with opportunities to explore the bigger questions of life and gain a basic understanding of Christian beliefs and study contemporary issues related to the Christian faith. Students will also develop the critical literacy skills required to make informed decisions about the Christian faith for themselves.
Local Christian Churches employ a teacher at the school to teach Combined Christian SRE.
The denominations represented are: Sydney Anglican Diocese, Presbyterian Churches NSW, Uniting Churches NSW; Baptist Union NSW; Australian Christian Churches; Churches of Christ in NSW. View Curriuclum
Islamic SRE
Students gain knowledge of Islamic principles, values and life skills. Students are supported and nurtured to develop a positive sense of their identity as Muslims and are guided towards becoming model members of their communities. View curriculum
Hindu SRE
Students learn Hindu Dharma and culture, creating a bond with God, respect for nature and all beings. Guided to grow into positive, cultured contributors to society. They are equipped to face challenges while remaining resilient and compassionate. View curriculum
Sikhism SRE
Students gain the knowledge and skills they require to become responsible citizens, that understand and appreciate Sikh values and beliefs. View curriculum

At our school, we give the right support to help gifted learners to grow and do their best.
We notice these students early. They may learn quickly or show strong skills in creativity, leadership, problem solving or sport. We help them stay challenged with lessons and activities that match their strengths.
